Lost Children Locations, Fire Levels & Rescue Prep

Find the Dino, Kraken, Squid and Koala kids in 99 Nights in the Forest. Learn the reported fire-level gates, guards, keys and preparation.

CHILD 01

Dino Kid - usually Campfire 2

A PC Gamer guide reports the Dino Kid commonly becomes reachable at Campfire Level 2, sometimes Level 3. The cell is guarded by five regular wolves with red collars; the last wolf drops the red key. Pull enemies away from the group instead of fighting all five together.

Bring a spear or pistol if available; clear the pack one at a time; collect the red key from the last wolf.
CHILD 02

Kraken Kid - usually Campfire 4

Reported at Campfire Level 4, occasionally Level 5. The cell is guarded by four blue-collared wolves. A rifle, extra ammunition, armor and a bandage are sensible preparation before engaging the pack one enemy at a time.

Check the poster first; stock ammo and healing; avoid drawing the whole group at once.
CHILD 03

Squid Kid - Campfire 5

The guide reports the Squid Kid behind a level 5 fire gate, guarded by two yellow-collared bears. Bears are tougher to kite than the earlier wolf groups; bear traps can help control the fight.

Craft bear traps if possible; bring ranged damage and healing; fight with room to retreat.
CHILD 04

Koala Kid - Campfire 6

The final child is reported at Campfire Level 6 and guarded by six gray-collared bears. This is a high-risk rescue; go with upgraded armor, ammunition, traps and bandages, and do not start the fight at night if you can avoid it.

Max the fire; prepare traps, armor and extra ammo; separate bears; retreat if the fight turns.

01The map changes every run

There is no fixed coordinate that reliably points to a child across all seeds. Use the missing-child posters near camp for direction and distance, reveal the map as you travel, and treat the fire levels below as reported gates rather than guaranteed exact spawns.

06Rescue checklist

  1. 01Read the poster and mark the child direction before leaving camp.
  2. 02Choose a day-time route and keep a return path visible on your map.
  3. 03Bring a weapon, healing, and the right key/guard plan for that rescue.
  4. 04Free the child only when you can safely carry the new day-progression pace.
  5. 05After rescue, update your tracker: each child reportedly adds one day of progression per completed night.
